Biden is following the Keystone XL playbook to reduce U.S. nat gas production and stop new LNG export terminals
Over the past several weeks, the Biden Administration has been building its case to halt approvals for new LNG terminals. Regarding the massive Calcasieu Pass 2 project, earlier this week, the White House called on the Department of Energy to, in the words of the New York Times, “expand its evaluation of the project to consider its impact on climate change, as well as the economy and national security…” In other words, the White House has halted the approval of new LNG terminals as they try to figure out a reason to reject LNG exports.
