German automaker Mercedes Benz joined a growing list of automakers this week in backing away from aggressive conversion to electric vehicles goals amid faltering public demand for the cars.
Mercedes Benz had announced in 2021 plans to become all-electric by 2030, but now says it will rededicate itself to efforts to refine and improve its internal combustion models while scaling back its EV commitment to “around 50%” by that same year.
