It’s always going to be a great day for new energy absurdities whenever the International Energy Agency (IEA) produces a new report. Today is certainly no exception in the wake of the publication of a report titled “Energy Technology Perspectives 2023.”
The report is, put simply, a target-rich environment.
For starters, the study gives the erstwhile propagandist Fatih Birol a chance to reassert his oft-repeated claim of a pressing need for more renewables, his ready answer to any energy question that arises. Obviously, Mr. Birol is not acquainted with the literal definition of “insanity,” which is a repeated attempt to do the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result.
This time, though, he puts a little more meat on that brittle bone than usual, saying "As we have seen with Europe's reliance on Russian gas, when you depend too much on one company, one country or one trade route – you risk paying a heavy price if there is disruption. The era of clean technology manufacturing means every country needs to develop an industrial strategy that reflects its strengths & addresses areas where it's less competitive," Birol noted.
Every reader should focus intently on Birol’s call for “every country” on earth to “develop an industrial strategy” related to the energy transition. This is long-time code language used by socialists and communists across the centuries to push for command-and-control of the economy and imposition of limits on human freedoms by a central government.
That is what is being advocated here. Indeed, that is the central driving philosophy behind the energy transition itself.
