Back on January 31, I took the rare step of lauding the Washington Post for running an op/ed slamming the White House’s permitting “pause” on new LNG export capacity. Interestingly, the WaPo’s editorial board used exactly the same points I had made the previous week in its criticisms of Old Joe and his evil handlers.
Could just be coincidence, of course. After all, the inherent stupidity in the pause and lack of legitimate foundation for invoking it is obvious and undeniable.
But now I’m beginning to think the WaPo has either bought a paid subscription to my Substack or is pirating the content for free following this week’s publication of a long piece detailing the reasons behind the looming catastrophe with our nation’s regional power grids. That story, as with the January op/ed, raises many of the very same issues I’ve raised here for years now. While it’s great to see the WaPo finally catching up to the curve of energy history, we do have to wonder why it has taken so long.
The WaPo story, headlined, “Amid explosive demand, America is running out of power,” tells exactly the story the headline indicates. America is running short of power generation as demand for electricity continues to accelerate. This reality is no secret - and hasn’t been any sort of secret for years now - yet the writers and editors at the WaPo are just now choosing to take notice.
One can only wonder why now?
