1,000 Words on Energy in the Trump Speech

I just finished going through the transcript of Donald Trump’s 90-Minute speech from last night. Trust me, it's a laborious task, but I wanted to catalog how many words he said about energy, which I knew had been a high number as I watched him deliver it.

It is frankly unarguable that Trump said more about energy in that speech than any president in US history has ever said about that topic in an acceptance speech. In my experience viewing the speeches by nominees of both parties over the last half-century, energy has been barely mentioned. When it is mentioned, it's only with a sentence or two.

Trump abandoned that paradigm last night, detailing just over 1,000 words about his plans for energy policy in a second term. Not surprisingly, those plans will start with efforts to reverse most of the Biden Green New Deal agenda, and proceed from there.
