First of all, Dennis Quaid is starting to look spookily like Nick Saban as he ages. Watch the video below and tell me I’m wrong.
The Video has to do with a new film project Quaid is working on related to the potential for the U.S. power grid to fail after earth is hit with another so-called Carrington Event, a massive solar storm like the one that took place in 1859 and knocked out America’s then-extant telegraph system.
As Quaid points out, the Event of 1859 is referred to as a “100-year event.” Given that 165 years have passed since it happened, we appear to be overdue for another. The eventuality of such an event taking place is in fact 100% - the only question is when. Yet, despite decades of being warned of the consequences and the relatively cheap cost to fortify the grid against such an event, congress and a succession of U.S. presidents have refused to act.
