Congress Returns:
The House and Senate have been in their districts getting an earful from their constituents. The issues that will be on Congress’ plate when they return are funding the government and the border. Appropriations expire for various parts of the government on March 1 and 8 and literally nobody can give a clear explanation of where they go from here what Congress will do. Our advice for Republicans to extricate themselves from this mess would be to cut total government spending by 1% and make the Democrats vote on that.
Keep it simple. Make it a simple message for the American people. But then again – we are not running the show. The world would be a better place if we were but….
EPA Comment period on California Waiver to Ban ICE Vehicles closes February 27th
The Biden administration has three different ways it is working to mandate EV—EPA tailpipe rule (which they are considering slightly toning down in the near years, but keep the unrealistic out-year EV targets), NHTSA fuel economy regulations, and the California waiver. California has petitioned EPA to allow it to ban ICE vehicles. EPA is taking comments on that request until February 27th.
