Washington Update from the U.S. Oil and Gas Association: The War vs. Gas Stoves Continues

Make no mistake, the war against natural gas stoves is still on
Recently, when Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm was asked about the federal government trying to ban gas stoves she said, “it sounds like the government is coming in to take your stove. That is so not true. That is just not true.” And yet, this week Secretary Granholm proposed new energy efficiency regulations for gas stoves that could effectively ban new gas stoves.
As Jill Notini, of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers said, “This approach by DOE could effectively ban gas appliances.” Notini continued, “We are concerned this approach could eliminate fully featured gas products.”
Perhaps the federal government isn't going fly in black helicopters into your kitchen and rip out your gas stove, however, they certainly intend to use regulations to prohibit you from purchasing a new gas stove.
This is one more example that there truly is a war on gas stoves and natural gas generally and the Biden administration is waging it on several fronts.
USOGA will be starting a new public advocacy campaign in the very near future. It’s time to Save Our Stoves!
