The Administration’s Disregard for Checks and Balances is often reflected in the placement of political appointees in positions that require Senate approval. The Department of Interior named Laura Daniel-Davis the acting Deputy Secretary—the No. 2 spot at Interior to replace Deputy Secretary Tommy Beaudreau, who is leaving.
Several Senators are frustrated because Daniel-Davis was nominated to be the Deputy Secretary of Land and Minerals Management, but her confirmation was shot down when memos surfaced showing her efforts to stall oil and gas leasing in Alaska. But that didn't stop the Biden administration from elevating her at Interior.
