Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright as Energy Secretary nominee is what happens when an incoming president focuses on filling his cabinet with the best person for the job instead of making DEI hires or handing out political favors.
Don’t get hung up on the “climate change is real” line. People like Wright can acknowledge that yes the climate is changing because it always has been changing. Man’s actions may have influence on that change, but they are deminimus and pale in comparison to the massive benefits of human advancement. Use technology to confront a planet that will always be in flux. That technology certainly includes hydrocarbon combustion.
That is a rational and scientifically valid position that Wright can credibly make and can’t easily be refuted. If he simply says “climate change is a hoax”, his detractors will dismiss everything else he says. He’s a brilliant mind and strong communicator. Let him change hearts and minds with facts, not slogans.
A fair critique. I can’t speak for him, but suspect he’d say something like reasonably addressing the effects of natural climate change looks like enhancing our building methods, early warning systems, adjusting where we build, and protecting humans from temperature changes with AC/heating technology.
Those are addressing the actual climate change we’ve seen; even if it is slightly enhanced by human influences.
Although it will be transformational to have an energy executive who values oil and gas, I got stuck on the fact that he believes climate change is real. It is not. Instead, it is the leading ruse or scam to rob us blind, enslave us, and destroy our way of life. This is very disheartening. The climate change scam needs to be dismantled and eradicated—not perpetuated.
If his beliefs lead him to the same conclusion of the need for cheap, plentiful, reliable energy, I can look past it. I think NTX has a good perspective on this down below. We can all agree climate is changing and will continue to change whether influenced by humans or not. But if the conclusion is still a massive expansion of nuclear and natural gas, I’m all for it.
YES! I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Wright speak on energy policy and why natural gas is so important to economic security and national security. He has led the charge in Colorado, the United States , and globally. He brings common sense to the debate on making energy decisions beneficial to all, especially in the perspective of how those decisions affect the people who cannot afford the unintended consequences of bad decisions. Everyone should be thrilled to have such a great Energy Secretary.
Great job David as always. Natural gas is the obvious choice as the fuel as it is ubiquitous, abundant and US made. US LNG is poised to bring more global energy prosperity and save thousands of EEuropean jobs immediately.
he believes climate change is a real thing that must be addressed. well duh - it's been changing for eons but doing something about it? Like King Canute stopping the tides - every time man plays God it doesn't end well for man

well he should have left off the - and needs to be addressed - portion of the comment

Yes, I'd have to read the book to figure out what he means by that.

Climate change is real - it's just that burning fossil fuels has nothing to do with it

I tend to agree. See my comment on the real cause of global warming.

I am absolutely thrilled!

Lost me at believes in climate change which I assume means global warming. I have yet to see any reliable data to support such nonsense.
NTX Oilman has sage advice on this.
I understand going along to get along is a strategy but to what end.
I agree, although I don't know for sure of it's nonsense - the point is that's it's very definitely unsettled science. See my earlier comments.
Agree with Gary... Stop the Climate Change nonsense. Don't even include those buzzwords to appear to reach across the isle. Knock it off!!
Mr. Wright seems spot on with everything else. Worlds apart from Grandholm.
And if confirmed, David's gonna have to dig deeper to find "absurdities".
